The public counterpart of the Building Department is the Developer Services area of Engineering Services, which facilitates construction within the public right of way (streets, sewer, water, etc.), and the plat approval process.

Our services include:  Pre-Development Conferences, Plan Review, Permits, Inspections (building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, boiler, elevator), Certificates of Occupancy, and Building Official Hearings.

The Building Department also tests and licenses Gas Heating Mechanics I and II; Oil Burner Servicer/Installer, Low Pressure Boiler Operators and Small High-Pressure Boiler Operators; and Third-, Second- and First-Class Boiler Operators.

We are located in City Hall at 808 West Spokane Falls Boulevard on the third floor (skywalk level).

Our hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday; our permit desk closes at 4:30 p.m.

If you already have a permit in hand and wish to schedule a same-day inspection, call the inspector identified on your permit between 7:30 and 8:30 am.
